LEGO has introduced a new set based, once again, on a cult license that is about to make its return. An imposing but mainly very successful construction. The Danish company has launched new BrickHeadz products including Sonic Knuckles and Shadow, Spider-Man, Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy, Stitch, and Mickey Mouse. In a completely different style, it is possible to build a London telephone booth to display on your shelves, or to build a family tree out of bricks on which you can even hang family photos.
But there is a release far bigger than all those mentioned. The universe of the cult license Dune, which is returning to the cinema in a few days, has been transposed into the magical world of bricks. And the result is clearly a success. It is not a construction dedicated to the sacred Shai-Hulud, the immense sandworm, but to a vehicle seen in Denis Villeneuve’s film: the Royal Ornithopter.
The personal aircraft of House Atreides. A massive beast made up of 1369 pieces, with classic and Technic elements, and measuring over 23 cm high, 57 cm long, and 79 cm wide. Yes, you definitely need space if you want to proudly display it after assembly. This LEGO Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter 10327 features many details, such as being able to fold the ramp and landing gear to switch to flight mode.
It’s less practical for display, but you can still create a hand-held stand to fully enjoy it in this configuration. There are also foldable and flapping wings, as well as an open cockpit. The box also contains no fewer than 8 mini-figures of key characters. You will have reproductions of Paul Atreides, Chani, Leto Atreides, Lady Jessica, Liet Kynes, Duncan Idaho, Gurney Halleck, and the gigantic Baron Harkonnen.
LEGO Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter 10327 is available for €169.99 at the official store. This second part will be visible from February 28, 2024, and promises to be more impressive than the first installment. “*The first film is phenomenal, huge and grand. It’s great, but it’s nothing compared to the second.
Dune 2 is like a f***ing uppercut. It’s unreal […] It’s amazing, there are no words*” said Rebecca Fergusson, the actress who plays the character of Lady Jessica. Such high praise from a cast member is quite normal. The director considers it to be Denis Villeneuve’s Empire Strikes Back.
“*I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that if Dune: Part One was a Star Wars movie, it would be The Empire Strikes Back. It’s a fantastic extension of everything introduced in the first installment. It’s an extraordinary work*” (via Gamesradar).
